The principal objective of the ‘Just’ Docs Festival is to encourage and contribute to the development of digital cinema and to cultivate student videographers concerned with justice issues through competitions, screenings and awards for digital videographers and their works. Student videographers & animators are emerging as the voice for change in our world through digital technologies.
This year’s festival was attended by over 400 students in Bishop Marrocco/Thomas Merton’s own auditorium enhanced by 3 superscreens to optimize the screenings. The audience was treated to documentaries, experimental shorts and music videos. The panel of judges included filmmaker & educator Wade Vroom, Youth Worker and film critic, Andrea Muscat and former BM/TM digital arts students, Kwame Kubi and Maverick Aversa. The judges previewed the works in advance and further consolidated their results as a team on the day of the screening.
And the winners are….
‘How Much Longer?’ – Best Documentary
‘Can’t Live Without You’ – Best Director
‘Don’t Tag Me’ – Best Editor
‘That Special Language’ – Best Soundtrack
